how can i use pastry cases?
There are many shapes and sizes of pastry/Vol Au Vent cases and it is very easy to just always use in the same way and only with the same fillings. Our pastry cases are so versatile that they can be filled and used in anyway you can think of. If you are new to Vol Au Vents of have been using them for years, we think a great idea is using them for an open pie!
We have customers that are very traditional and will always serve a vol au vent as a canape and often with traditional fillings such as prawns and mushrooms but others that love to use larger pastry cases as a base to a main meal and fill with mincemeat or steak pieces. Our pastry cases can also be used with sweet fillings, such as cream and fruit. The beauty of a pastry case is that they are so flexible, whether it is hot/cold, sweet/savoury, fine dining/quick and easy snack they can be used for all eating occasions and are a great store cupboard stable that you can rely on.
